my view on the old man and the sea

Santiago is a poor old guy. it can be said that Hemingway did not give the elderly man a success, but given him elegant and tenacious image.

The Fisherman drifted for 84 days at sea .he caught nothing but a incomparable large marlin . This fish is much longer than his boat. It seems that the fate of the elderly man is not successful, he encountered sharks. after a life-and-death struggle, marlin has only a skeleton left.

The skeleton is the spiritual mainstay, Hemingway does not appear to allow the elderly Santiago successed but the bare bones stand for the hardness of Santiago’s life. "I would like to die with you together" – the tough guy said it facing the challenges seriously.

The elder is lonely. he is a traveller in an ideal road trip, but he was not lonely, His will is so strong.

I still rememmber the child’s words : " He didn't beat you. Not the fish. "A true man can be destroyed but not defeated. " this is what I learn from The Old Man and the Sea .
