The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass -- jugglesthe competing demands of Social Welfare, Defence, and Education. Theaverage income tax rate is 36%, but much higher for the wealthy. Alarge private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturingindustry.
The latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, corporations donatehuge sums of money to favored politicians, military spending recentlyhit a new high, and military spending is on the increase. Crime istotally unknown. Avalic's national animal is the polar bear, whichfrolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency isthe krote.
Avalic is ranked 8th in the region and 22,236th in the world for Largest Defense Forces (per capita).
