How I spent my Thanksgiving Day.

Before I tell you guys how I spent my Thanksgiving, I want to introduce the holiday to some of you guys who may not be too familiar with this holiday. Thanksgiving occurs on the fourth Thursday of November. The earliest Thanksgiving events were held in the British Colonies, at present day Berkeley Plantation in Virginia in 1619 and at Plymouth in present day Massachusetts in 1621.

On Thanksgiving morning I took a cab to my parents' house in Manhattan. The bustling Thanksgiving parade made driving in New York a nightmare. It took the cab driver thirty minutes to drive three miles. Anyhow, I am thanksful that I arrived at my parents' house before the sky turned dark. After receiving my surprise call (I haven't been home for nearly a year) that I was going to be at their front steps in minutes, they rushed to their lawn to greet me. After lots of hugs and kisses, they finally let go of me and escorted me into their living room. We talked for quite a while (30 New York minutes, that's like 10 days else where.) and then my parents gave me a surprise of their own. They told me that they are going to teach in one of Beijing's most prestigious Universities until the end of the Olympic Games. At first I didn't know what to say but soon I realized that they wanted to do this for a long time so I, like any good filial piety child, gave in and sponsored their plan.  Next, my mom brought out a ten pound turkey and lots of side dishes from her famous kitchen. I swear on my soul that her cooking gets better and better every year. I couldn't help but to stuff my stomach with turkey, honey glazed ham, cranberry sauce, turkey stuffing, garvey, pumpkin pie and even the dinning cloth (alright, I'm kidding about that, although I did eat the dining utensils. lol).  After lunch, we were joyed by a special visitor who happened to be long lost for ages. It was none other than my long lost little sister (cousin). Every since we were little, we would attend family gathering today. But when she turned seven, her parents got divorced and her mother won the custody battle. After her mother's marriage to her new husband, they moved away to live in another state. Now my sister is older, she was allowed to hop on a plan and come to New York. We had a wonderful time all afternoon talking about our good times together. We then decided to play a little family game called Monopoly for old times sake. By the way, my sister is such a cheater. lol. After the game, we went to a ice skating ring and had more fun. Time passed so fast while we were having a good time before we knew it, it was already four o'clock. My parents wanted to buy us (My sister and I) some new clothes and gifts so we went to the fashion district, fashionably located between Fifth Avenue and Nineth Avenue. Being the cutest one in the family, my sister always get the nicest and most expensive gifts. My mom bought her a Versaci watch and a Coach bag. My dad bought her a 3000 dollar Sony laptop. My parents were not stingy to me either, they bought me a collection of designer gadgets. Once we got home, it was another busy meal preparation party for my parents. They made a green casserole dish, a bowl of tossed salads, Italian gourmet pasta, A plate of Salmon and Caviar, a pot of olyster soup and we topped the dinner with a large pecan pea. To say dinner was delicious is an understatement. After dinner, we talked some more and watched a home movie together. The movie brought back a whole world of memories. It was not until 11 o'clock did my parents go to bed (they usually sleep around 9 o'clock). I had a wonderful Thanksgiving day this year and I'm looking forward to our next Thanksgiving Day as a family.

ur parents are soooo great...and i can imagine how amazing they are~~~~

my dream is that one day i will be able to do sth for my country (China)...lol.......actually teaching is one of the best ways to show it...........and yes...i did want to be a teacher....it's pretty cooooooool though the income is not that handsome..........being a teacher in new oriental school or a university is not bad~~
